Amy’s first experience with Action Karate Plymouth occurred by sheer luck: she won a raffle for one free month of classes.

It didn’t take long before we knew she was hooked; by the end of her free month, she was so in love with karate that we decided to let her stay!

We’ve been with Action Karate Plymouth for more than five years, now. It’s amazing to see how much our daughter has grown since her first class back in 2011. She is in excellent physical condition, and has a confidence about her which makes her practically fearless.

Her growth has extended beyond the physical. Amy has developed a sense of discipline that we see everywhere, including her schoolwork. She always tackles assignments before starting anything recreational.

Amy’s first tournament yielded a 1st place trophy for her kata. She and her demo team also had a runner up placement of which we are quite proud of. Amy continues to set very high goals for herself, and her dedication and determination have helped her achieve them all.

She has had several intricately self-choreographed musical katas, which are always quite impressive. She’s so excited to share everything she has learned, and is even helping to teach Ninja Sharks and kids in basic training!

On top of all that, she is now a Junior Black Belt!

If we had to give one piece of advice to karate parents, it would be to encourage perseverance in your child. Try to get them to stick it out for at least a year. Once they develop a passion for karate, you’ll be able to sit back and watch your child thrive, both inside of the dojo and out!
